Project Phase Requirements 

 Idea Proposals (February 20th)

• 2-4 minute presentation and paragraph description 
  • Describe the Art/Artist. Provide examples of work (photos, audio, video) 
  • Explain how art/artist meets the goals of Welcome Week 
  • Explain how the event will promote art/entertainment at the university 
  • Suggest target audiences within the UI community for this event 
  • Cite any data showing popularity of art/artist within UI community or larger 
  • college demographic 
• Summary of event proposal (4-6 sentences). Post to Discussion Board. 

 Events Logistics and Marketing Documents (Due March 10th)

• Summary of event, including participation goals (250-500 words) 
• Preferred location/day/time of event. 
• Include timeline of day’s events (installation/load-in, event, strike) 
• Consumer Interest Research: Survey of at least 10 UI students 
• Marketing plan to promote the event (in addition to Welcome Week marketing) 
• Promotional Webpage (each team will be assigned a website with a template) 
• Budget: 
  • Art/Artist Fees 
  • Staffing fees (Assume that the university will provide basic security) 
  • Materials/Supplies 
  • Marketing 
  • Sponsorship opportunities if event costs exceed $1,000 
• Assessment tools to determine whether goals are achieved

 Event Plan Presentations (March 12th)Each team has 10 minutes to present their event plan. The class will adopt the role of the steering committee for Welcome Week.  The purpose of this presentation is to convince the class of the following:

1. The event is viable 
2. The event serves the mission of Welcome Week 
3. The event will promote art/entertainment at the university 
4. The event will generate significant interest among UI Students (at least 100 students will attend)
